Local students develop underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs)
MATE PA Regional ROV Challenge
May 12, 2018- Villanova, PA –Thirty teams from CN, NY, PA, NJ, DE, MD, and DC will compete in the Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) PA Challenge’s 9th Annual Student ROV Competition. Remotely Operated Vehicles or ROV’s are tethered underwater robots used to complete tasks in underwater environments. The teams will compete using an ROV they designed and built during the school year.
Teams must prepare technical documentation for their vehicle, make a product presentation and create a marketing display to a panel of university and industry judges for awards. The top three teams move onto MATE International.
